Pokemon Go Players have Caught 88 Billion Pokemon and Walked far Enough to Leave our Solar System

Pokemon Go players are still racking up some really impressive stats despite the waning popularity of the game. Niantic is reporting that as of December 7, players have walked 8.7 billion kilometers, Pluto in comparison is only 7.5 kilometers away, which means that collectively Pokemon Go games have left our solar system.

Other comparisons the company have made is that that distance is around 200,000 trips around the Earth, and that a commercial airliner would have to fly for 100 years to cover the same distance. So it’s a long way then.

And with all that walking it’s obvious there’s been a lot of Pokemon caught along the way. Well as it turned out 88 billion have been captured since the games original release, which equates to roughly 533 million every single day.

At the moment Pokemon Go is celebrating Christmas with Santa-hatted Pikachu’s running around the world for you to catch, and it has also added in some Gen 2 pokemon that you hatch from eggs. Let’s see what else Niantic has in store.
